Our church places a high priority upon mission—locally, nationally, and internationally. Some of our outreach programs include:
Local Mission:
Care and Share Supper is a free community outreach dinner provided three times a year. Our church family prepares and serves this meal to anyone in the community. We host these free dinners in the winter, spring, and fall.
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another and provide care to others during difficult times. Through one-on-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them. Having someone to care, to listen, to share God’s love with, can help get others through the confusion, stress, and loneliness they may be experiencing. For further information please contact the church office.
Local mission support includes the Salvation Army, S.A.F.E. Shelter (domestic abuse shelter), the Gideons, Christian Community Youth Center (CCYC), Jamestown College, and James River Senior Center.
Our church, through our board of Deacons, helps local agencies throughout the year. We provide clothing for children, transportation for Meals-On-Wheels, Christmas kettle ringers for Salvation Army, and food collection for the Community Action Food Bank.
National Mission:
Mission Trips: Each year, our church emphasizes mission to a locale outside of our community. We have been to Southeast Alaska twice (2001 and 2003), Seattle (1998), Minneapolis (1999), Fort Totten Reservation in North Dakota (2002), Fort Peck Reservation in Montana (2004 and 2005), and California and Oregon (2006,2007, and 2008)
Our church financially supports the work of the Presbyterian Church (USA). These mission dollars in return are used to promote and maintain the mission of our church and the evangelization of Jesus Christ to all people.
International Mission:
Mission Partners: Our congregation support mission work which is conducted overseas. We also support Africa University, a protestant University in South Africa.
