Educational Outreach Programs

Stephen Ministry:

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another and provide care to others during difficult times. Through one-on-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them. Having someone to care, to listen, to share God’s love with, can help get others through the confusion, stress, and loneliness they may be experiencing.

We, at the United Presbyterian Church, are committed to training Stephen Ministers so that they have the adequate tools to reach out to help others.  We offer a Stephen Ministry Training Class every two years. This class incorporates 50 hours of training and will prepare those who desire to become certified Stephen Ministers.

For further information please contact Pastor Dave or Diane Witzig (252-8057).

Prison Bible Study:

Jesus teaches his followers in Matthew 25 to reach out to those who are incarcerated.  We offer a Bible study every Thursday afternoon from 2:15–3:30 PM at the James River Correctional Facility in Jamestown to bring the message of Good News and hope as revealed through Jesus Christ and the Bible to the inmates. This fall we will be studying The Life of Christ.  If you are interested in learning more about this specialized ministry, please contact the church office
