New Members’ Classes:
Classes for those wishing to join
our church and/or those desiring to learn more about the Presbyterian/Reformed
tradition are encouraged to attend a new members’ class. These classes are
offered in the spring and late fall and are held on three consecutive Sunday
mornings from 9:00-10:15 AM. Please contact Pastor Dave if such a class is of
interest to you.
SONrise Men’s fellowship:
This men’s group meets every
Friday morning in the fellowship hall from 6:30-7:30am for breakfast, study, and
prayer. All men are welcome and invited to attend.
Marriage/Parenting Classes:
With the breakdown in
marriages and families today, our church provides support and encouragement for married
couples and families. A specific class which addresses the biblical blueprints for Christian
marriage and families is provided on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:15am in the
Board Room.
Presbyterian Women’s Organization:
The Presbyterian women’s group meets
on a monthly basis from September through May for Bible study and fellowship.
Two groups meet during the day and one meets in the evening. Please
contact the church office for more information about the Presbyterian Women's
organization.
Educational Outreach
Programs
Stephen Ministry:
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another and provide
care to others during difficult times. Through one-on-one caring relationships,
those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.
Having someone to care, to listen, to share God’s love with, can help get others
through the confusion, stress, and loneliness they may be experiencing.
We, at the United Presbyterian Church, are committed to training Stephen
Ministers so that they have the adequate tools to reach out to help others.
We offer a Stephen Ministry Training Class every two years. This
class incorporates 50 hours of training and will prepare those who desire to
become certified Stephen Ministers.
For further information please contact Pastor Dave or Diane Witzig (252-8057).
Prison Bible Study:
Jesus teaches
his followers in Matthew 25 to reach out to those who are incarcerated. We
offer a Bible study every Thursday afternoon from 2:15–3:30 PM at the James
River Correctional Facility in Jamestown to bring the message of Good News and
hope as revealed through Jesus Christ and the Bible to the inmates. This fall we
will be studying The Life of Christ. If you are interested in
learning more about this specialized ministry, please contact the church office
